SISSY TREAT
Founder and president - 615 entertainment agency
Entertainment Executive • Industry Pioneer • International Talent Strategist
There are moments in history when someone chooses not to accept the limits others place upon them.
For Sissy Treat, that moment came in 1977.
At only 17 years old, she entered an entertainment industry where women simply were not welcomed as booking agents. She was repeatedly told she was stepping into "a man's world." Many laughed. Others insisted she would never succeed.
Her response has become legendary among those who know her story.
"You better get used to me because I'll be here a long time."
Nearly fifty years later, those words have become reality.
Today, Sissy Treat is recognized as one of the entertainment industry's most respected booking executives and the founder and president of 615 Entertainment Agency, an organization preparing to celebrate 50 years as one of America's premier independent entertainment booking and management agencies.
From the Stage to the Business Side of Entertainment
Long before becoming an internationally respected booking executive, Sissy Treat lived the life of a performing musician.
She worked professionally as a bass player, traveling and performing with many of the music industry's legends, pioneers, and nationally recognized entertainers. Those years on the road gave her something very few booking agents ever experience—a true artist's perspective.
She understood the sacrifices.
She understood the endless travel.
She understood the excitement of performing before thousands of fans.
Most importantly, she understood what artists truly needed from the people representing them.
While touring, Sissy became fascinated by another side of the entertainment business. She watched the booking agencies, managers, promoters, and producers who were building careers behind the scenes. She realized that while performers were creating the music, there were dedicated professionals helping create the opportunities that allowed those artists to flourish.
Recognizing that her future might lie on the business side of entertainment, she traveled to Nashville and sought opportunities with some of the most respected booking agencies in America. Among those she approached were industry leaders Tandy Rice, Billy Deaton, and Jim Halsey, hoping to earn a position as a booking agent within their organizations.
Unfortunately, the answer was almost always the same.
Women simply were not hired as booking agents.
Rather than accepting rejection, Sissy made a life-changing decision.
If no one would open the door for her...
She would build her own.
At just 17 years of age, she founded 615 Entertainment Agency, beginning what would become one of the longest-running independent entertainment agencies in the United States.
